My Fraser grandfather was promoted to colonel in 1944. The local newspaper reported in two parts: one and two. And here is a document that describes how my Welling grandfather was descended from Roger Williams.

Lovat, Fraser's house in Hastings
 A painting of Lovat, the Fraser's house at Hastings on the Hudson by Frederick Rondel in about 1860. The man standing on the left is Andrew Fraser surrounded by 4 of his grandchildren. He is pointing to their parents, Thomas and Jane Kevan Fraser, on the porch. This link is a 185M high resolution scan of the painting, and this link is a 0.8M version convenient for viewing.
